Dear student,Welcome to the new semester. And a special welcome to the students who started a new study programme from 1 February. We would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to a number of (practical) matters to help get the semester off to a good start. Good luck with your studies! |
Interactive Metro map (update)Whether you have only recently decided on NHL Stenden or have been studying here for a while, there are always the occasional questions that you would like a quick answer to. We have collected all kinds of information for you in our handy interactive Metro map. It contains all sorts of information, from application to registration and from schedules to deregistration from and re-registration for your course. The Metro map is divided into ‘stations’ according to topic. Clicking on one of these stations will bring you directly to the corresponding topic. It’s an easy and quick way to access the topic of your choice and to get an immediate answer to your question. From student to professional: the Metro map is your route to a successful (higher education) career.

Smoking off the premises and butts in the tile ashtraysMany smokers adhere to our non-smoking policy and smoke off our premises, but unfortunately there are still some who do not. At Leeuwarden’s Rengerslaan 10 entrance facing the street, the situation has become such a nuisance that we receive regular complaints about the smoke and butts strewn on the ground. Not only do we risk being fined a hefty sum, it also does not make for a clean, healthy and welcoming entrance to our institution. Did you know that it takes cigarette butts 15 years to degrade naturally? You don't want to contribute to that, do you? |
Made by student logo for student projectsDid you know that we have a special NHL Stenden logo specifically for student projects? This logo boasts the addition of 'Made by students’. It is available in Dutch and English, in blue or white, even for all sub-brands. It is intended for all your communications of which NHL Stenden is not the sender, but that are linked to our university of applied sciences. The 'Made by students' logo has been specially designed to distinguish between NHL Stenden projects and student projects, but also to show how proud we are of what you create!

Safe data handling: Lock, protect & blockWe are living in a digital world full of marvellous developments in education, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and digital assessments. However, this brings with it the challenge of keeping your own data and those of your fellow students safe. At NHL Stenden, we are continually innovating in a responsible manner. This is at the essence of the data awareness programme launched early this year. We offer tools for the safe handling of personal data, such as a handy info sheet containing the golden rules, e-learning and awareness campaigns. We need your help, too |
What to do in the event of unwelcome behaviourAre you subjected to unwelcome behaviour such as sexual harassment, aggression and violence, bullying or discrimination? A safe work and study climate is essential for you as a student to function properly within NHL Stenden UAS and during all NHL Stenden activities organised outside the institution. You can report unwelcome behaviour towards yourself or someone else via NHL Stenden’s confidential adviser. Students who wish to speak with a confidential adviser can email Margriet Veenstra, or call her via telephone number: +316 10 71 73 01. Do you have personal circumstances or do you have other study problems?
